Summer is winding down, which means it’s almost time for back to school! So how can you get organized and still keep your orthodontic treatment on track? Prepare a back to school braces kit! This way, no matter how busy you get with classes, friends, and activities – you will be prepared!
At True North Orthodontics, we recommend using a zippered bag to store all the necessary orthodontic care items that you will need. We also provide a zippered bag when you first get braces on – if you need a new one just ask! Be sure to pack the following items in your braces kit:
- Toothbrush & Fluoride Toothpaste: You can brush your teeth anywhere, anytime! After lunch or when you finish afterschool activities.
- Dental Floss, Floss Threaders, Proxy Brushes: Things can easily get stuck in your braces, so it’s always a good idea to have some floss on hand. This way you’ll help to ensure no embarrassing moments with food stuck in your teeth at school.
- Orthodontic Wax: Wax is a great temporary fix for when a wire pokes your cheek. It can also help relieve any discomfort until you check back in with us at True North Orthodontics!
- Over-the-counter Painkillers: When you recently have your wires tightened or braces put on, your teeth can be a little sensitive and sore. Having painkillers in your kit can help ease your pain so you can focus on school!
We hope these tips help you prepare for back to school. Feel free to visit our office to check in on your treatment or contact us in Calgary for any questions.
Don’t forget about our Back to School BBQ on Saturday, September 7th at Aspen Landing from 11am-2pm. Join us for food, games, prizes, live music and much more. We look forward to seeing you there!
